#JusticeForFloyd: Protesters Lie Face-Flat On The Floor, Screaming “I Can’t Breathe” For 9 Minutes.

Demonstrators this week laid down on streets staging “die-ins” for precisely eight minutes, 46 seconds, apparently the length of time prosecutors say Floyd was pinned to the ground under the knee of a white Minneapolis officer on May 25 before his arrest and subsequent death.

In Washington, Democratic senators gathered in the US Capitol’s Emancipation Hall, some standing, some kneeling on the marbled floor for the nearly nine minutes of silence.

Mourners at a memorial service for Floyd in Minneapolis stood in silence for eight minutes and 46 seconds.

Thursday’s service was the first of several memorials scheduled before Floyd will be buried in Houston, Texas, where he grew up on Tuesday. A weekend memorial is scheduled in North Carolina, where Floyd was born.
