Just In: Joe Biden Announces Black Female Running Mate

Democratic Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, on Tuesday named Kamala Harris, a black US senator from California, as his choice for vice president, capping a months-long search for a Democratic partner to challenge President Donald Trump in November.

Once a rival for the top job, the California senator of Indian-Jamaican heritage had long been considered the front-runner for the position.

The former California attorney-general has been urging police reform amid anti-racism protests.

Biden took to Twitter to announce his running mate tweeting, “I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris, a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate,” Biden.

His team stated that the two Democrats will deliver remarks on Wednesday in Wilmington, Delaware as they kick off their campaign to defeat the Republican Trump.

Mr Biden will face President Donald Trump in the election on 3 November.
