More than 1.8 million people have now been infected with the Covid19 in the United States, according to data from John Hopkins University. Death toll in the US also continues to tick upward, now at more than 105,000 deaths attributed to the deadly virus.
The U.S. has the highest number of cases worldwide, largely due to the inability of the US government to enact public safety measures on time as the virus crept into the country unabated.
Similarly the nationwide protest over the past week instigated by the death of George Floyd has also culminated into a spike in coronavirus infections in the US, a situation the country’s health officials hinted at the early days of the protests.
