BREAKING: Buhari Suspends All EFCC Directors

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has ordered the suspension of 12 directors and top staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with immediate effect.

The notice of suspension was communicated to the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Umar, on Tuesday night by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN)

However, it was learnt that the order was handed down on Friday following a request by the Presidential Panel investigating the allegations of graft and misconduct against the former EFCC acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

According to a source, “The panel actually requested the suspension of all the directors of the EFCC to go to enable the panel members to carry out a thorough investigation into the activities of the commission.

“Following the request, the President asked the AGF to direct the directors and other senior officials to proceed on suspension immediately. The officials were informed on Tuesday.”
