Botswana To Have Second Phase Of Lockdown After 12 New Cases of Covid-19.
Friday being June 12 2020, Dr Malaki Tshipayagae, the Director of Health Services announced that the Capital city of Botswana, Gaborone will experience a second phase of total lockdown following the emergence of 8 new covid-19 cases in a private hospital in Gaborone.
The decision was based on the uncertainty of the source of the 8 new cases, and as such will have another lockdown to curb the spread. The city also recorded 4 new cases from outside its environs, making it a total of 12 new cases of the coronavirus.
The Lockdown commenced midnight of Friday June 12.
Prior to this time, the country had gone on a seven week lockdown that was called off May 21. Economic activities reopened, and the children went back to school.
Botswana before this time, records for only 60 coronavirus cases with 1 death and 24 recoveries.
